1922 ਬਾਬਾ ਖੜਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਡੇਰਾ ਗ਼ਾਜ਼ੀ ਖ਼ਾਨ ਜੇਲ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਦ ਸੀ I ਇਸ ਜੇਲ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਪਹਿਨਣ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਸੀ ਪਰ 22 ਜਨਵਰੀ, 1923 ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਜੇਲ ਸੁਪਰਡੈਂਟ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੈਰਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨੰਬਰਦਾਰ ਤੇ ਵਾਰਡਨ ਮੰਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਦਸਤਾਰਾਂ ਲੁਹਾ ਲਈਆਂ I
ਜਦ ਖੜਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਖੋਹੀ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਪਣੇ ਕਛਹਿਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਸੁਪਰਡੈਂਟ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਾ ਦਿਤੇ I ਇਸ ਮਗਰੋਂ 13 ਹੋਰ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਕਪੜੇ ਲਾਹ ਦਿਤੇ ਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਸੀ ਉਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਕਪੜੇ ਪਾਵਾਂਗੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦਸਤਾਰਾਂ ਮਿਲਣਗੀਆਂ I ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਖੜਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਜੇਲ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸਮ ‘ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਕਪੜਾ ਨਾ ਪਾਇਆ (ਪਰ ਬਾਕੀ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਪਾ ਲਏ ਸਨ) I ਉਹ 1927 ਦੀਆਂ ਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੇਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਸੇ ਕਛਹਿਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਹੋਏ I
ਸਿੱਖ ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟ ਫ਼ੈਡਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਅਮਰੀਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ-ਬੂਝ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਰ-ਅੰਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਫ਼ੈਡਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਜਨਰਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ । 1978 ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਤ ਜੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਧਰਮ ਯੁੱਧ ਮੋਰਚਾ’ ਅਰੰਭ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਸ਼ਈ ਬਣ ਰਹੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੌਜਵਾਨੀ ਭਾਈ ਅਮਰੀਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਜ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਸਦਕਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਕ-ਹਕੂਕਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਨਕਲਾਬ ਵੱਲ ਵਧਣ ਲੱਗੀ। ਭਾਈ ਸੰਧੂ ਮਹਿਜ਼ ਨਾਹਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜਸੀ ਰੁਮਾਂਸ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸ਼ੋਸ਼ੇਬਾਜ਼ ਨੇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਨੁਕਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਰਮਾਰ ਸੀ।
ਸੰਤ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲਿਆ ਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਸੀ । ਭਾਈ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀਆ ਵੀਡੀਉਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾਈਏ (interpreter) ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਦਿਆ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ । ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੰਧੂ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ-ਕਾਰਜ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਲੰਗਰ ਦੀ ਛੱਤ ਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ । ਜੂਨ 1984 ਦੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਜੋਧਪੁਰ ਜੇਲ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਭਾਈ ਹਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਇਕ ਦੂਰ-ਅੰਦੇਸ਼ ਨੇਤਾ ਸੀ । ਰਿਹਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹ ਪਿੰਡ-ਪਿੰਡ ‘ਖਾਲਸਾ ਪੰਚਾਇਤਾਂ’ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਢਾਂਚਾ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ 3000 ਪੰਚਾਇਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਠਨ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਹੀ 24 ਜਨਵਰੀ 1990 ਦੀ ਸਵੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਥਿਤ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਣਪਛਾਤੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆ ਨੇ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ । ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ 2 ਹਫਤੇ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ।
1921 ਮਹੰਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਜਾਦ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਅਰੰਭ ਹੋਇਆ । ਇਹ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਸੀ । ਭਾਈ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਇਸ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋਏ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਿ ਬਾਬਾ ਬਘੇਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਵੰਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਸਨ । ਇਥੇ ਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਹੁਕਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪਾਈ ।
ਇਸ ਤਰਾ ਇਸ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰੱਪਟ ਮਹੰਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਜਾਦ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ 2 ਸਿੰਘਾ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪਾਈ ਅਤੇ 17 ਸਿੰਘ ਜਖਮੀ ਹੋਏ ।
26 ਜਨਵਰੀ 1986 ਨੁੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟਸ ਫ਼ੈਡਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਦਮਦਮੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਰਬੱਤ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ I ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਰਬੱਤ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਇਕੱਠ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਹੀਲਾ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਪਰ ਧੰਨ ਹਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ, ਜਿਨਾ੍ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਦੀਆ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਘੋਰੇ ਕੱਢ ਦੇ ਸੰਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ । ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀਆ ਸਾਰੀਆ ਸੜਕਾ ਸੀਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਵੀ ਬੇਮਿਸਾਲ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਹੋਈਆ ।
ਸਰਬੱਤ ਖਾਲਸੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲਏ ਫੈਸਲਿਆ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਪੰਜ ਮੈਂਬਰੀ ਪੰਥਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਗਈ,ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਅਰੂੜ ਸਿੰਘ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਉਸਮਾਨ ਵਾਲਾ,ਬਾਬਾ ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨੋਚਾਹਲ,ਭਾਈ ਧੰਨਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਵੱਸਣ ਸਿੰਘ ਜ਼ਫ਼ਰਵਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ।
ਭਾਈ ਜਸਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਰੋਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਐਲਾਨਿਆ ਗਿਆ । ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੇਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਰਬੱਤ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਕਾਉਂਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਰੀ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਥਾਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ ।
ਕੌਮ ਤੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਜੁਲਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਸਹਾਰਦਿਆ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਤਹਿਤ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆ ਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਿਖ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੀ । ਕੌਮੀ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਝਬਾਲ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਲਾਲ ਘੁਮਾਨਾ ਪਿੰਡ 1 ਅਗਸਤ 1990 6 ਵਜੇ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਪੁਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ 29 ਘੰਟੇ ਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ | ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਈ ਜੋਗਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਠਲ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੱਬਰ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਗਏ , ਭਾਈ ਹਰਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਓਥੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਣ ਚ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ I
26 ਜਨਵਰੀ 1991 ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ , ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਲ ਘੁਮਾਨਾ ਪੀੜ ਤੋਂ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੇਰ ਦੇ 5 ਵਜੇ ਇੱਕ ਝੂਠੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਚਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ । 5 ਫਰਵਰੀ 1991 ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਈ ਪੰਥਕ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਂ, ਸਿੱਖ , ਹਿੰਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ ।
ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਸੁਖਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੱਬਰ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਵਧਾਵਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਈ ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੇ ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦੇਲਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਓਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਵੱਡਮੁੱਲਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ | ਭਾਈ ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਕੱਦ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਹਿਨਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਕੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਖਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੱਬਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ” ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸ ‘ ਖਿਤਾਬ ਦਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੰਘ ”ਸ਼ਹਿਜਾਦਾ” ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਬੁਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਸੀ I
ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਪੂ ਸ਼ੰਕਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਚਲੁਪੁਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰ
On the 4th February 1986, Sikh Student Federation (SSF) membersand local Sikh community members gathered in city of Nakodar to collect theSaroops of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which were desecrated and burnt in ShriGuru Arjan Dev Gurdwara, Nakodar on 2nd February 1986.
The police opened fire at this unarmed and peaceful gathering ofSikhs. This unprovoked and unjustified violence by the police killed BhaiRavinder Singh Littran, Bhai Baldhir Singh Ramgarh and Bhai Jhilman SinghRajowal-Gorcian.
The fourth victim, Bhai Harminder Singh Chaluper, was executed atpoint-blank range by the police inspector Jaskirat Chahal after beingchallenged by name while in a shelter. In the report written by, theInternational Human Rights Organization committee, Mr. Chaluper’s assassinationis described as plain, unprovoked murder. Despite the identification of thevictims, the administration refused to hand over their bodies to theirrelatives. The dead bodies were cremated by the administration as”unidentified and unclaimed”.
Based on the statements made by the Sub Divisional Magistrate,Surjit Singh Rajput, three of the victims were identified the evening beforecremation. Two of the post-mortem reports showed the names of the victims,which is a clear proof that administration lied about their identification. Even the post-mortem examination was conducted at midnight, in violationof the Indian constitution.
The Judicial inquiry report was never made public and themurderers were never brought to Justice.

ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਧੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਾਤਾ ਲਾਜ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਪੂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਰਾਮਗੜ੍ਹ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਕਪੁਰਥਲਾ
On the 4th February 1986, Sikh Student Federation (SSF) membersand local Sikh community members gathered in city of Nakodar to collect theSaroops of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which were desecrated and burnt in ShriGuru Arjan Dev Gurdwara, Nakodar on 2nd February 1986.
The police opened fire at this unarmed and peaceful gathering ofSikhs. This unprovoked and unjustified violence by the police killed BhaiRavinder Singh Littran, Bhai Baldhir Singh Ramgarh and Bhai Jhilman SinghRajowal-Gorcian.
The fourth victim, Bhai Harminder Singh Chaluper, was executed atpoint-blank range by the police inspector Jaskirat Chahal after beingchallenged by name while in a shelter. In the report written by, theInternational Human Rights Organization committee, Mr. Chaluper’s assassinationis described as plain, unprovoked murder. Despite the identification of thevictims, the administration refused to hand over their bodies to theirrelatives. The dead bodies were cremated by the administration as”unidentified and unclaimed”.
Based on the statements made by the Sub Divisional Magistrate,Surjit Singh Rajput, three of the victims were identified the evening beforecremation. Two of the post-mortem reports showed the names of the victims,which is a clear proof that administration lied about their identification. Even the post-mortem examination was conducted at midnight, in violationof the Indian constitution.
The Judicial inquiry report was never made public and themurderers were never brought to Justice.
