ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਪੂ ਸ਼ੰਕਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਚਲੁਪੁਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰ

On the 4th February 1986, Sikh Student Federation (SSF) membersand local Sikh community members gathered in city of Nakodar to collect theSaroops of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which were desecrated and burnt in ShriGuru Arjan Dev Gurdwara, Nakodar on 2nd February 1986.  

The police opened fire at this unarmed and peaceful gathering ofSikhs.  This unprovoked and unjustified violence by the police killed BhaiRavinder Singh Littran, Bhai Baldhir Singh Ramgarh and Bhai Jhilman SinghRajowal-Gorcian.  

The fourth victim, Bhai Harminder Singh Chaluper, was executed atpoint-blank range by the police inspector Jaskirat Chahal after beingchallenged by name while in a shelter.  In the report written by, theInternational Human Rights Organization committee, Mr. Chaluper’s assassinationis described as plain, unprovoked murder. Despite the identification of thevictims, the administration refused to hand over their bodies to theirrelatives. The dead bodies were cremated by the administration as”unidentified and unclaimed”.  

Based on the statements made by the Sub Divisional Magistrate,Surjit Singh Rajput, three of the victims were identified the evening beforecremation. Two of the post-mortem reports showed the names of the victims,which is a clear proof that administration lied about their identification. Even the post-mortem examination was conducted at midnight, in violationof the Indian constitution. 

The Judicial inquiry report was never made public and themurderers were never brought to Justice.
